ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY

ACCEPTABLEUSE POLICY

This Policy forms part of the Agreement between the Client and Keyweb and is binding on Clients using Keyweb's services.

General

By contracting with Keyweb for services, the Client agrees, without limitation or qualification, to be bound by this Policy and the terms and conditions it contains.

The purpose of this AUP is to:

  • Ensure compliance with the relevant laws of the Republic of South Africa
  • Specify what activities and online behaviour are considered unacceptable use
  • Protect the integrity of Keyweb's network
  • Specify the consequences that may flow from prohibited activities

Keyweb respects the rights of clients to freedom of speech, access to information, privacy, human dignity, religion, belief and opinion.

Unacceptable Use

Keyweb's services may only be used for lawful purposes. Prohibited activities include:

  • Child pornography, obscenity, discrimination, hate speech, or threats
  • Defamation, abuse, stalking, harassment, or physical threats
  • Violation of Intellectual Property laws
  • Violation of privacy rights or unauthorized data collection
  • Fraudulent activity, pyramid schemes, or impersonation
  • Violation of exchange control laws
  • Sale or distribution of pirated or illegal software

Threats to Network Security

Activities that threaten network security are strictly prohibited:

  • Unauthorized access attempts or circumventing security measures
  • Hacking, cracking, or spoofing activities
  • Denial of service attacks or network flooding
  • Distribution of viruses, malware, or harmful software
  • Unauthorized monitoring of network data or traffic
  • Running vulnerable services or applications

Spam and Unsolicited Bulk Mail

Keyweb regards all unsolicited bulk email as spam, with limited exceptions for existing relationships and explicit consent.

Prohibited activities include:

  • Sending unsolicited bulk mail for any purpose
  • Operating mailing lists without recipient permission
  • Failing to remove invalid or unwilling recipients
  • Using Keyweb's infrastructure for spam-related activities
  • Failure to secure mail servers against public relay

Hosting Restrictions

Shared hosting is subject to reasonable usage policies. Prohibited activities include:

  • Running non-production-ready applications
  • Inadequate security controls
  • Monopolizing server resources
  • Storing malicious content or malware
  • Running torrents, TOR, or anonymity services
  • Bulk mailing or proxy servers

User Responsibilities

  • Clients are responsible for any misuse through their account
  • Ensure unauthorized persons do not gain access to services
  • Parents/guardians are responsible for minors' online conduct
  • Do not reply to or click links in unsolicited mail

Enforcement Actions

Upon breach of this AUP, Keyweb may take the following actions:

  • Warn, suspend, or cancel client accounts
  • Charge administrative costs and recovery fees
  • Assist in investigations and law enforcement
  • Institute civil or criminal proceedings
  • Share information with other providers or authorities

Report AUP Violations

Complaints relating to violations of this AUP should be submitted in writing to:

Complaints must be substantiated and clearly state the nature of the problem and its connection to Keyweb's network and services.
